In a move to strengthen its presence in the Indonesian market, Toyota has recently introduced the Urban Cruiser alongside commencing local assembly of the updated bZ4X. The launch of these two models is part of Toyota’s broader strategy to cater to the unique demands of each regional market.

The Urban Cruiser arrives in Indonesia with a single configuration priced at 759 million rupiah (approximately 39,500 euros). This model is imported from India and manufactured alongside Suzuki’s eVitara. Despite being offered in three variants in Europe, Toyota has opted for the middle variant which emphasizes range over other features.

The Urban Cruiser is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 128 kW of power and 192.5 Nm of torque, supported by an LFP battery pack with a net capacity of 59.8 kWh and gross capacity of 61.1 kWh. It supports fast charging up to 67 kW DC, taking around 45 minutes to go from 10% to 80% SoC (State of Charge). On full charge, it offers a range of 426.7 kilometers under WLTP conditions.

Toyota has also brought the locally assembled bZ4X model, which is now being produced in Karawang, West Java. This variant comes with an NMC battery pack boasting an energy storage capacity of 69 kWh net and 73.1 kWh gross. It features a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor generating 165 kW power and 268 Nm torque.

Charging capabilities for the bZ4X are impressive, as it can achieve from 10% to 80% SoC in just 30 minutes with peak input of up to 150 kW. The new model is available in Indonesia at a price tag of 799 million rupiah (around 41,500 euros).

Both models are packed with advanced features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure prevention systems, ensuring that safety remains a top priority.
