CATL’s Jining facility can produce over 220,000 units per day and one cell every under two seconds on average. This production line reduces costs by 42% compared with previous models and boasts a safety failure rate at the parts-per-billion level (PPB).

The new cells have an energy density of 434 Wh/L—a ten percent improvement over CATL’s earlier model—making them more efficient for use in large-scale stationary storage systems. The company has deployed its globally used energy storage system capacity exceeding 256 GWh.

CATL is the world’s largest battery manufacturer, with revenue of RMB 362 billion ($51 billion) last year and an estimated 70% market share in China for power batteries. The company’s energy storage business contributed nearly RMB 58 billion to its overall sales in 2024.
