November saw an impressive surge with over eleven thousand electric car registrations, pushing EV sales to 73.7% of all new cars sold.

The Skoda Elroq led the charge as the most popular model among Danish buyers last month, followed closely by Volkswagen’s ID series and Audi’s Q4 e-tron. Interestingly, these models are built on a common platform known as MEB (Modular Electric Car Platform), which showcases the rapid consolidation of EV technology.

While electric cars continue to gain traction in Denmark, they’re not alone in their climb up market share charts. Traditional internal combustion engine vehicles still hold significant sway elsewhere in Europe and globally. For instance, while Norway leads with over 95% EV sales, other countries lag behind significantly due to varying infrastructure and consumer preferences.

Industry experts like Mads Rørvig from Mobility Denmark see this trend as a continuation of the positive developments seen throughout 2025. The removal of uncertainty regarding vehicle taxation has bolstered consumer confidence in making purchases, pushing sales figures even higher than expected.

November saw 11,732 new electric vehicles hit the roads across Denmark. This is a stark contrast from just two decades ago when hybrids were considered cutting-edge and pure electrics rare.

The Skoda Elroq led sales with 1,102 units registered, followed closely by Volkswagen’s ID.4 at 856 registrations. Other popular models included the Audi Q4 e-tron (543), Škoda Enyaq iV (528), and Renault R5 (372).
