In October, Toyota’s growth was driven by a combination of strong domestic performance in Japan and steady demand overseas. Sales in Japan rose by 3% to 200,045 units, while overseas sales climbed to 803,586 units, also up by 3%. The company’s year-to-date figures show an impressive increase of 13% in domestic sales, reflecting a recovery from production disruptions at its Daihatsu subsidiary last year.

Toyota’s electrification strategy is clearly paying off. In the first ten months of 2025, global sales of Toyota and Lexus-branded electrified vehicles surged by 12.5%, reaching 4,131,758 units. This includes a significant increase in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, which grew by over 30% to 154,512 units, with nearly all of these sold overseas. Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) sales also saw healthy growth, rising by 9.5% to 3,675,577 units.

North America remains a key market for Toyota, with sales increasing by 7.7% year-to-date to 2,416,597 units. However, Latin American markets excluding Mexico saw only modest growth of 0.8%, indicating that regional demand may still be recovering from the impacts of previous economic challenges.

Daihatsu’s performance in Japan was particularly noteworthy, with sales rebounding by a substantial 54% year-to-date to 451,309 units. This recovery follows production stoppages at Daihatsu last year and highlights Toyota’s ability to manage its subsidiaries effectively during challenging times.

As Toyota continues to diversify and expand its electrified vehicle lineup, it is clear that the company’s strategy is well-aligned with global trends towards sustainability and technological advancement in the automotive industry.
