The Ford Bronco, an American icon that shares its platform with Australia’s beloved Ford Ranger and Everest SUVs, has become a breakout hit in the United States.

Key Takeaways

Prices start at around AU$62,000 for the entry-level two-door model, with options and performance upgrades pushing costs up significantly.

It’s not just about the platform; it’s also about the soul that goes into making such a rugged and capable machine.

Starting at around AU$62,000, the entry-level Bronco offers impressive features like LED headlights, cruise control, an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The price tag can climb steeply depending on your desired level of performance and luxury, reaching up to AU$135,000 for the high-performance Raptor model.

The top-tier Raptor variant uses a powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine producing an impressive 311kW and 597Nm, making it a beast on both paved roads and off-road trails.

With its rugged design, capable performance, and Aussie engineering input, the Ford Bronco is more than just a dream car—it’s a vehicle that could make daily life easier for many Australians.

Ford’s mid-2026 update to its popular Ranger and Everest line-ups is set to make a significant splash in the New Zealand market, packing a punch with new styling cues and expanded tech features. The changes come at a time when Ford is adjusting its engine lineup to cater better to customer demands.

One of the key highlights for the 2026 model year is the expanded availability of the potent 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, which now finds its way into more variants than before. This move is a direct response to the departure of the bi-turbo diesel engine, which was discontinued earlier this year.

The Ranger Wolftrak variant is a brand-new addition for New Zealand buyers and is exclusive with the powerful V6 diesel. It features unique styling elements like ‘Zest’ accents in Traction Green hero color, complemented by distinctive 17-inch Asphalt Black alloys. Additionally, it comes equipped with long-legged sports bars, making it stand out from the crowd.

Another exciting update is the Ranger Tremor, now upgraded with the same V6 engine for a significant performance bump. The Tremor variant boasts impressive off-road capabilities thanks to features like Bilstein position-sensitive dampers and an extra 26mm of ground clearance. It’s clear Ford has listened to customer feedback, delivering exactly what enthusiasts have been asking for.

On the tech front, the Ranger now comes standard with a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen on XL and XLT models, enhancing user experience significantly. Dual-zone climate control is also new to the XL variant, ensuring passengers stay comfortable regardless of external conditions. The addition of driver assist technology further elevates safety features, making the Ranger an even more attractive choice for everyday use.

While these updates are exciting, they don’t come without their challenges. With the departure of the bi-turbo diesel and its 154kW power output, Ford will need to prove that the updated V6 and single turbo 2.0-litre engine can meet customer expectations in terms of performance and fuel efficiency.

Overall, the Ranger and Everest models are set for a strong showing this year, promising improved versatility and capability across their range. For those who prioritize power underfoot and rugged styling, these updates seem to be just what the doctor ordered.

Ford Australia's top dogs, the Ford Ranger and Everest, have just received a mid-life refresh that shakes things up under the hood while leaving most of their looks alone. It's a move that signals changing times for one of the country's best-selling vehicles.

The exterior changes are subtle—new grille designs, fresh wheel styles on select models, and some new paint options. But let’s be clear: this is more about what lies beneath than what catches the eye from outside.

Ford Australia’s top dogs, the Ford Ranger and Everest, have just received a mid-life refresh that shakes things up under the hood while leaving most of their looks alone. It’s a move that signals changing times for one of the country’s best-selling vehicles.

The exterior changes are subtle—new grille designs, fresh wheel styles on select models, and some new paint options. But let’s be clear: this is more about what lies beneath than what catches the eye from outside. The real news here is the departure of the popular 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine in favor of a revised 2.0 single-turbo unit and an expanded range for the 3.0-liter V6.

The switch to a more reliable but less powerful single-turbo setup is part of Ford’s global strategy to simplify its lineup. While it might disappoint some fans of the bi-turbo diesel, which offered strong performance and fuel economy, the new configurations aim for better durability and lower maintenance costs. The V6 engine, on the other hand, sees expanded availability across models.

For those who haven’t kept up with Ranger or Everest updates in recent years, this is a significant shift. It marks Ford’s commitment to staying competitive as diesel technology evolves and customer preferences change. With every major player refining their offerings, it’s crucial for Ford to keep its lineup fresh and relevant.

The price changes reflect the engine swap; single-turbo models are now less expensive, while V6-powered variants have increased slightly. Given that these trucks and SUVs serve a wide range of buyers—from small business owners to off-road enthusiasts—it’s encouraging to see pricing adjustments that might make different configurations more appealing.

So what does this mean for the Ranger and Everest? Well, it could lead to some interesting dynamics in the market as potential buyers weigh performance against longevity. And with the 10-speed automatic now standard across all models, driving experience should be smoother too. But let’s face it: the real test will come when these refreshed vehicles hit the road next year.

For enthusiasts and those just starting to look at a new truck or SUV, this refresh offers both intrigue and some tough decisions. The updated Ranger and Everest stand out for their reliability improvements, even if they’re not quite as punchy under the hood anymore. It’s clear Ford is banking on durability and efficiency to keep these stalwarts in top form.

So, while we’re all used to seeing big changes with new model years, this mid-cycle update for Australia’s best-selling vehicles underscores a larger shift happening in the market. Stay tuned as the 2026 Ranger and Everest take their place on dealers’ lots next year.

Pionix, a provider of charging software solutions, has just secured over €8 million in fresh funding. This round was led by Ascend Capital Partners and includes investments from the Start-up BW Seed Fund managed by MBG Baden-Württemberg, among others.

The primary goal is to scale up their enterprise products for electric vehicle (EV) charging on an open-source platform called “EVerest.” Since its inception in 2023, Pionix has been working towards creating a standardized and efficient system for EV charging infrastructure. The latest funding will enable them to further develop this initiative.

Current challenges in the EV industry include fragmented systems that do not communicate effectively with each other. This leads to issues like reliability problems and high error rates during charging sessions, which can be up to 25% in some cases.

Pionix’s open-source platform aims to address these interoperability concerns by serving as a shared software foundation for all EV charging technologies. By doing so, it ensures better communication between different hardware and software systems, leading to more efficient and reliable charging solutions globally.

One of Pionix’s key clients is Amperfied, the charging infrastructure subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. They plan to use BaseCamp, an industrial-grade version of EVerest, as the operating system for their Amperfied Dynamic DC chargers. With more than 600 contributors from over 70 organizations supporting the platform, it’s expected that “EVerest” will power hundreds of thousands of chargers worldwide.

Pionix also offers specific solutions like Pionix Cloud and ChargeBridge to help manufacturers deploy reliable chargers quickly while ensuring they comply with industry standards. This latest funding round is a significant step towards unifying EV charging technology under one common framework, aiming for better reliability, faster innovation, and wider adoption of electric vehicles.
