Mahindra is stepping up its game in the electric vehicle (EV) race by planning to install a whopping 250 ultrafast EV charging stations across India. With over 1,000 individual charging points promised by 2027, this move signals Mahindra’s serious commitment to making electric cars more accessible and practical.

The first two Charge_IN hubs are already up and running—one near Bengaluru on NH75 and another close to Delhi on NH44. Each site features two 180 kW chargers capable of simultaneously charging four EVs. That’s a significant improvement over the slower public chargers that many EV owners currently rely on.

Mahindra’s network is designed for its future eSUV lineup, including models like the XEV 9e and BE 6. The goal is to get these vehicles from 20% charge to 80% in around 20 minutes—a huge time-saver when compared to conventional charging methods. This kind of speed will make EVs a real option for long road trips, which has been a major pain point for many drivers.

One of the most exciting aspects is how these stations are integrated into everyday life. They’re not just random locations but are co-located with amenities such as restaurants and cafés. This means that while your car charges in minutes, you can enjoy a meal or grab a coffee during those precious minutes. It’s turning potential inconveniences into enjoyable pit stops.

While the Me4U app is already packed with charging stations from various operators, Mahindra is making sure that its Charge_IN network isn’t just for them. The plan includes access through dedicated apps and aggregator platforms, ensuring everyone can benefit regardless of their brand loyalty.

Mahindra’s ambitious goal highlights the growing importance of EV infrastructure in India. As more manufacturers like Tata Motors and Hyundai jump into electric vehicles, charging networks are becoming a crucial selling point for consumers. Mahindra’s move could set a new standard for other players to follow.
