Tesla Unveils World’s Largest Supercharger with 168 Stalls

Tesla has completed the construction of its largest Supercharger station in Lost Hills, California, boasting a total of 168 charging stalls. The facility, known as Project Oasis, spans over 30 acres and was fully operational by November 25, 2025. Tesla initially opened half of the stalls back in July 2025, with full certification enabling the remaining 84 stalls to become active.

The Lost Hills Supercharger is powered entirely off-grid, relying on a combination of 11 MW solar panels and 10 Megapack batteries for energy storage. This setup ensures that the station generates approximately 20 GWh annually, sufficient to power around 1,700 homes. The site’s completion marks a significant milestone in Tesla’s efforts to expand its charging infrastructure into more rural areas.

With over 70,000 active Superchargers worldwide, Tesla continues to lead the market in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. This latest addition is part of Tesla’s strategy to cater to long-distance travel needs, particularly for cross-country trips that require stops in less populated regions. The station’s unique features include pull-through stalls designed specifically for vehicles towing trailers, a feature gaining popularity since the launch of the Cybertruck.

Comparatively, other major EV manufacturers like Volkswagen and General Motors are also expanding their charging networks but have yet to match Tesla’s scale or off-grid capabilities. For instance, Volkswagen’s Ionity network operates with fewer stalls per station, averaging around 40-50 stalls compared to the 168 available at Lost Hills.

Tesla has made notable strides in enhancing user experiences at its Supercharger stations beyond just charging efficiency. The Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard is a prime example, featuring two drive-in movie theaters and soon-to-be full-service restaurant amenities. This approach sets Tesla apart from competitors who typically focus solely on the functional aspects of charging.

According to industry analysts, Tesla’s Supercharger network has become a key differentiator in the EV market, influencing consumer purchasing decisions. As more electric vehicles hit the roads, especially during peak travel times such as Thanksgiving weekend, robust and accessible charging infrastructure becomes increasingly critical for widespread adoption of EVs. The completion of Project Oasis underscores Tesla’s commitment to addressing these needs.
