Tesla has completed the construction of its largest Supercharger site globally, featuring a total of 164 charging points. The project was initiated in July 2025 and saw the installation of 84 chargers initially, followed by an additional 80 chargers recently.

The facility, located on Interstate 5 halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, is nearly self-sufficient with a solar power plant generating eleven megawatts and ten Megapacks storing up to 39 MWh of energy. This setup ensures that each Supercharger can deliver up to 325 kW charging capacity.

Max de Zegher, Director of Charging at Tesla for North America, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific, announced the completion on X (formerly Twitter). He highlighted the critical need for additional infrastructure along the San Francisco-Los Angeles route due to projected high demand during the 2025 holiday season.

Despite initial plans calling for 168 Superchargers, Tesla managed to install a total of 164. The company’s ability to bypass traditional grid connections and rely on its own solar generation and energy storage solutions allowed them to meet tight deadlines efficiently.

In comparison, competitors like ChargePoint and Electrify America have been expanding their networks but with fewer charging points per site. For instance, Electrify America’s largest Supercharger site has only 50 chargers, significantly less than Tesla’s new facility.

The completion of this project underscores Tesla’s commitment to leading the electric vehicle market by providing extensive and efficient charging infrastructure. With an estimated 80% increase in EV adoption globally expected within five years, such large-scale projects are crucial for supporting growing demand.

Tesla has completed the construction of its largest Supercharger station in Lost Hills, California, boasting a total of 168 charging stalls. The facility, known as Project Oasis, spans over 30 acres and was fully operational by November 25, 2025. Tesla initially opened half of the stalls back in July 2025, with full certification enabling the remaining 84 stalls to become active.

The Lost Hills Supercharger is powered entirely off-grid, relying on a combination of 11 MW solar panels and 10 Megapack batteries for energy storage. This setup ensures that the station generates approximately 20 GWh annually, sufficient to power around 1,700 homes. The site’s completion marks a significant milestone in Tesla’s efforts to expand its charging infrastructure into more rural areas.

With over 70,000 active Superchargers worldwide, Tesla continues to lead the market in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. This latest addition is part of Tesla’s strategy to cater to long-distance travel needs, particularly for cross-country trips that require stops in less populated regions. The station’s unique features include pull-through stalls designed specifically for vehicles towing trailers, a feature gaining popularity since the launch of the Cybertruck.

Comparatively, other major EV manufacturers like Volkswagen and General Motors are also expanding their charging networks but have yet to match Tesla’s scale or off-grid capabilities. For instance, Volkswagen’s Ionity network operates with fewer stalls per station, averaging around 40-50 stalls compared to the 168 available at Lost Hills.

Tesla has made notable strides in enhancing user experiences at its Supercharger stations beyond just charging efficiency. The Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard is a prime example, featuring two drive-in movie theaters and soon-to-be full-service restaurant amenities. This approach sets Tesla apart from competitors who typically focus solely on the functional aspects of charging.

According to industry analysts, Tesla’s Supercharger network has become a key differentiator in the EV market, influencing consumer purchasing decisions. As more electric vehicles hit the roads, especially during peak travel times such as Thanksgiving weekend, robust and accessible charging infrastructure becomes increasingly critical for widespread adoption of EVs. The completion of Project Oasis underscores Tesla’s commitment to addressing these needs.

Tesla has taken a significant step towards expanding its charging network by opening its first Supercharger site specifically designed for businesses. Located at 16954 Focus Loop in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, the new location marks Tesla’s attempt to scale its fast-charging infrastructure more efficiently.

This innovative approach involves partnering with local companies like Suncoast Charging to provide the physical space and investment required to build out these Supercharger stations. While Suncoast owns the property, Tesla manages all aspects of the station operation, including hardware installation, software management, uptime control, billing, and customer service.

The Land O’ Lakes site features eight V3 stalls capable of delivering up to 325 kW of power, ensuring rapid charging for electric vehicles. The setup is also user-friendly for non-Tesla drivers with an integrated adapter system that accommodates both NACS (Tesla’s connector) and CCS standards.

Charging costs at this new location are set at $0.45 per kWh, which places it in a competitive range compared to other fast-charging options available in the area. Although slightly higher than Tesla-owned stations ($0.38/kWh), it is still lower than non-Tesla rates that typically hover around $0.46.

As demand for electric vehicles surges, Tesla recognizes the need to diversify its approach to expanding its charging network. The Supercharger for Business model allows Tesla to leverage existing infrastructure and land resources more effectively, opening up opportunities in locations where building a new site might be cost-prohibitive or logistically challenging.

Tesla’s decision to open this Florida-based site signals a strategic shift towards collaborative expansion methods, setting the stage for similar partnerships across North America. This move also aligns with Tesla’s broader goal of promoting wider adoption of electric vehicles by making charging more accessible and affordable for both Tesla owners and users of other EV brands.
