Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV MPV Launches in Thailand for $73,000

Great Wall Motor’s premium brand Wey has unveiled the right-hand drive version of its Gaoshan MPV in Thailand, now known as the Wey G9 Hi4. This luxury plug-in hybrid vehicle is priced at a hefty 2.349 million Thai Baht (approximately $73,000 USD), marking Wey’s strategic move into Southeast Asia.

The Wey G9 Hi4 is the latest in Great Wall Motor’s ambitious push into international markets, following the acquisition of GM’s plant in Rayong, Thailand. The car’s dimensions closely match those of its domestic counterpart, the Gaoshan 7, with a slight width increase to 1985mm compared to 1960mm.

Under the hood, the G9 Hi4 boasts a powerful PHEV system that combines a 1.5T engine with dual electric motors for a combined output of 442 horsepower and 642 N·m torque. This setup is complemented by a 44.28 kWh battery pack offering an impressive NEDC range of 170 km in pure-electric mode.

Inside, the Wey G9 Hi4 offers a suite of high-end features including a prominent 14.6-inch central control screen and a rear entertainment system with a 17.3-inch display for passengers in the back. The second-row seats are designed to provide ultimate comfort with zero-gravity positioning.

Since its acquisition of GM’s Rayong plant, Great Wall Motor has been steadily ramping up production capacity and introducing new models like the Wey G9 Hi4.
