Chinese automaker Zeekr is gearing up to launch its new large hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 8x. Recently spotted on test drives, this upcoming model promises a powerful performance package and impressive electric range for Chinese families looking for luxury and practicality.
The Zeekr 8x will be built on Zeekr’s SEA-S hybrid platform, featuring a robust powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with dual electric motors. This setup delivers an astounding 400 kW (544 horsepower) and an estimated 700 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
One of the key highlights of the Zeekr 8x is its electric range. According to CLTC testing, it can travel over 400 kilometers on a single charge, making it ideal for daily commutes or weekend road trips without worrying about finding charging stations. When combined with fuel, the total driving range exceeds 1,200 kilometers.
For those who value luxury and comfort, the Zeekr 8x offers an impressive six-seat layout featuring second-row aviation seats that provide a premium experience for passengers. The interior also includes advanced driver assistance systems like dual Orin-X processors and LiDAR technology to ensure safety on the road.
The fast-charging capabilities of the Zeekr 8x are another standout feature, with an 800–900 V architecture enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. A quick 5-minute charge can add up to 200 kilometers of range, making it convenient for topping off the battery on-the-go.
Priced between 300,000 and 450,000 yuan (approximately $42,000–$63,400), the Zeekr 8x aims to compete with models like the Li Auto L8 and Aito M8. With its strong performance, luxury features, and advanced technology, this new hybrid SUV is set to make waves in the Chinese market as a premium choice for families seeking both style and substance.
