The Brazilian automotive landscape has seen a surge of activity with the arrival of six new car brands within just two weeks, each offering unique vehicles and electrification strategies.

Among these newcomers are Jetour, Leapmotor, MG, Changan, Avatr, and Denza. All hail from China and bring their own twist to electric and hybrid models. The Jetour brand, part of the Chery Group, is setting its sights on Brazil with an initial lineup that includes six plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs scheduled for launch between 2026 and beyond.

The first model from Jetour, the T2, embodies a robust aesthetic reminiscent of older rugged SUV designs like the GWM Tank 300. It features a turbocharged gasoline engine paired with two electric motors, delivering an impressive total output of 225 horsepower and substantial torque figures for urban driving.

Inside, Jetour’s tech offerings are noteworthy: a large touchscreen infotainment system powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, digital instrument cluster, premium audio setup from Sony, and up to ten airbags for enhanced safety. The brand is also preparing its engine lineup to cater specifically towards Brazilian tastes with ethanol-adapted motors.

Leapmotor’s entry into Brazil represents a significant move as part of the Stellantis portfolio. Founded in 2015, Leapmotor focuses on SUVs equipped either fully electric or as range-extended hybrid models (REEV). The C10 model is set to lead this charge, followed by its sibling B10 starting from January next year.

Leapmotor’s pricing strategy ranges between R$ 172.990 and R$ 199.990 depending on the drivetrain chosen. This SUV promises a minimalistic interior design with extensive use of digital interfaces, such as its large central display screen, enhancing driver convenience and modernity.

While Leapmotor has committed to expanding its dealership network across Brazil through Stellantis’ existing retail infrastructure, Jetour plans an independent launch starting from 30 dealerships by December 2025. These moves reflect the increasing presence of Chinese brands in global markets and their adaptability towards regional preferences.

As BMW continues to lead the charge in automotive sustainability, its design studio, Designworks, is embracing a new mantra: circularity. This concept isn’t just about recycling materials; it’s about creating products that are sustainable from inception.

Adrian van Hooydonk, who heads up design at BMW, acknowledges that reducing the company’s carbon footprint is crucial, but he also emphasizes that sustainability must be attractive to customers on an emotional level. “If the CO2 footprint is smaller, then so much the better,” Van Hooydonk says.

Designworks sees circularity as a benefit mindset rather than a sacrifice. The team’s goal is not just to reduce waste but also to enhance quality and performance. This approach is reflected in the development of the BMW i Vision Circular concept car, which showcases sustainable materials that don’t compromise on style or luxury.

For instance, Designworks highlights how circular thinking can tie into performance via aesthetics. “What does performance mean when it’s not just about the space you’re in, but about you individually?” asks a spokesperson. This question encourages designers to think beyond conventional metrics and consider how individuality shapes perceptions of strength and beauty.

One area where this mindset is particularly evident is in material choices. BMW has long been recycling components wherever possible, but now it’s exploring new materials that are both attractive and sustainable. “If we can focus on a 10x impact rather than a minor improvement,” says the Designworks spokesperson, emphasizing their commitment to making significant strides in sustainability.

Another key aspect of BMW’s circularity approach is its emphasis on regionspecific design elements. For example, strength may be more about bulk for one region and sleekness for another. This nuanced understanding allows BMW to tailor its designs while maintaining a global perspective on sustainability.

In summary, BMW’s Designworks isn’t just designing cars; it’s reimagining the future of automotive manufacturing. By integrating circular thinking into every aspect of design—from materials to performance—BMW is leading the industry towards a more sustainable and innovative future.

South Korean automaker KGM is making waves in the Australian market by launching its second electric vehicle (EV) in just a few weeks. This time around, it’s an all-electric SUV dubbed the Torres EVX that aims to undercut established models like Tesla’s Model Y and the Xpeng G6.

At $58,000 driveaway price, the Torres EVX enters a crowded segment but offers its own unique set of features. It’s powered by an 152 kW motor paired with an 80.6 kWh battery pack, delivering up to 462 km on the WLTP cycle and fast-charging from 10% to 80% in just 37 minutes.

Inside, KGM has equipped the SUV with multiple screens for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a panoramic sunroof, and other creature comforts. The Torres EVX also comes with an impressive warranty package: a seven-year unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty alongside a ten-year battery warranty. This kind of coverage should give buyers peace of mind.

As KGM continues to expand its presence in Australia after launching the Musso EV Ute, it’s clear they’re targeting both commercial and consumer markets with their electrified lineup. The brand’s move into electric vehicles could be a strategic play to capture market share from established players like Tesla and BYD.

While KGM faces stiff competition from brands such as ‘gm’ and others in the EV space, its entry-level pricing strategy may attract price-conscious buyers looking for an all-electric SUV. The Torres EVX isn’t just about specs; it’s also about making a statement in the growing Australian EV market.

With official sales starting on December 1st, we’re excited to see how the Torres EVX performs against its rivals. Stay tuned as Auto Global News brings you more updates and reviews of this latest addition to the electric SUV segment.

Audi launches a new EV SUV under its China-only 'AUDI' brand at Auto Guangzhou 2025, showcasing the company's commitment to local tastes and advanced technology.

The E SUV Concept is built on SAIC’s ADP platform with impressive specs like 109kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive system.

Audi is making waves in the Chinese market by launching another model under its newly created AUDI sub-brand, this time a fully electric SUV that will debut at Auto Guangzhou 2025. It’s part of their strategic pivot to cater directly to China’s unique tastes and demands.

The new E SUV Concept is a massive vehicle, outsizing even the Q8 e-tron that Audi recently discontinued. With dimensions of 5057mm long, 2042mm wide, and 1786mm high, it’s built to offer generous rear legroom, a feature Chinese buyers adore.

The design is a clean break from the traditional Audi look. No more iconic Four Rings here; instead, the front grille proudly displays ‘AUDI’ in large letters. It’s sleek and minimalist with flush door handles, slim C-shaped lighting elements, and roof-mounted LiDAR pods that hint at advanced driver assistance systems.

What’s really interesting is that this SUV isn’t just a styling exercise; it’s built on SAIC’s new Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP). That means Audi is fully committing to Chinese manufacturing for its AUDI-branded vehicles. No more imported models, no global strategy here—just pure China-centric engineering.

The E SUV will be available with a powerful dual-motor setup that offers all-wheel drive and a respectable 0-100km/h acceleration time of five seconds. But the real kicker is its battery pack: a hefty 109kWh unit that promises an impressive range of up to 700km on the CLTC cycle, with fast-charging capabilities adding up to 320km in just ten minutes.

Let’s talk about why this matters. Audi has been struggling to keep pace with local EV players like NIO and BYD in China. By creating its own sub-brand tailored specifically for Chinese buyers, it’s positioning itself not as a foreign luxury brand but as an indigenous player that understands the market intimately.

Expect some heated competition from other premium brands vying for the same space. BMW’s iX5 is already here and Tesla’s Model Y continues to dominate sales figures. But with its AUDI sub-brand, Audi seems ready to play this game on China’s home turf. We’ll have to wait until 2026 to see how well it performs.
