With plans to install 250 chargers and over 1,000 charging points across the country by 2027, Mahindra aims to make long-distance travel with EVs more practical for its customers.</p>
<p>The company&#8217;s initiative includes setting up Charge_IN stations along major highway corridors, ensuring easy access to charging infrastructure. These locations are conveniently placed near cafes and restaurants, making it easier for drivers to recharge while enjoying a meal or taking a break during their journey.</p>
<p>Mahindra is using 180 kW dual-gun chargers at each site, allowing customers to charge their EVs from 20% to 80% State of Charge (SoC) in just 20 minutes. This quick charging capability is particularly beneficial for long road trips and aligns with the growing demand for reliable EV infrastructure.</p>
<p>The first two sites under the Charge_IN network have already been opened, one in Hoskote near Bengaluru and another in Murthal, close to Delhi. Both locations feature two 180 kW dual-gun chargers, enabling up to four cars to charge simultaneously. This strategic placement ensures that drivers can find charging stations at key points along their routes.</p>
<p>Mahindra currently offers three passenger EVs: the XUV400, BE 6, and XEV 9e. While the XUV400 is a modified version of the SsangYong Tivoli, the newer BE 6 and XEV 9e models are designed specifically to take advantage of the fast-charging capabilities offered by Charge_IN stations.</p>
<p>The CEO of Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Ltd’s Automotive Division, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, emphasized that their goal is to make EV travel as effortless and reliable as conventional driving. By establishing Charge_IN as an open network, Mahindra encourages other EV brands to utilize these charging stations, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for electric mobility in India.</p>

<p>The primary goal is to scale up their enterprise products for electric vehicle (EV) charging on an open-source platform called “EVerest.” Since its inception in 2023, Pionix has been working towards creating a standardized and efficient system for EV charging infrastructure. The latest funding will enable them to further develop this initiative.</p>
<p>Current challenges in the EV industry include fragmented systems that do not communicate effectively with each other. This leads to issues like reliability problems and high error rates during charging sessions, which can be up to 25% in some cases.</p>
<p>Pionix’s open-source platform aims to address these interoperability concerns by serving as a shared software foundation for all EV charging technologies. By doing so, it ensures better communication between different hardware and software systems, leading to more efficient and reliable charging solutions globally.</p>
<p>One of Pionix’s key clients is Amperfied, the charging infrastructure subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. They plan to use BaseCamp, an industrial-grade version of EVerest, as the operating system for their Amperfied Dynamic DC chargers. With more than 600 contributors from over 70 organizations supporting the platform, it’s expected that “EVerest” will power hundreds of thousands of chargers worldwide.</p>
<p>Pionix also offers specific solutions like Pionix Cloud and ChargeBridge to help manufacturers deploy reliable chargers quickly while ensuring they comply with industry standards. This latest funding round is a significant step towards unifying EV charging technology under one common framework, aiming for better reliability, faster innovation, and wider adoption of electric vehicles.</p>

This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for EV owners and improve upon existing infrastructure originally used by the BlueLA carshare program.</p>
<p>The first phase of this rollout includes the installation of 15 chargers in three locations within Koreatown starting in November and December 2025. Over the next year, additional stations will be added citywide to facilitate a more widespread EV adoption effort. A key feature of these new chargers is their use of detachable charging cables, an approach commonly found in Europe but relatively rare in the United States.</p>
<p>By utilizing detachable cords, it&#8217;s electric addresses common issues such as cable theft and vandalism while also enhancing safety and reducing visual clutter along sidewalks and streets. This technology ensures that all vehicles, regardless of their specific connector type (J1772 or NACS), can easily connect to the chargers without needing adapters.</p>
<p>Karen Coronel, Senior Manager for Special Initiatives at it&#8217;s electric, emphasized in a statement that this project aligns with broader goals aimed at expanding public EV charging networks nationwide. She noted, “Los Angeles remains committed to leading in policy and infrastructure developments that support widespread adoption of electric vehicles.”</p>
<p>The transition from BlueLA’s carshare network to fully public curbside charging stations is designed to provide convenient access for drivers where they already park. This strategic placement ensures maximum utility without requiring significant adjustments to existing parking habits or urban layouts.</p>
