The Genesis brand has just unveiled its high-performance 2026 GV60 Magma, set to debut in Europe and arrive in Australian showrooms early next year. This electrifying hatchback represents the first model from Genesis’ new performance-oriented sub-brand, Magma, which aims to compete with established luxury sports cars like the Porsche Macan, Tesla Model Y Performance, and Alpine A390.
Developed alongside the upgraded Kia EV6 GT, the GV60 Magma boasts a formidable powertrain that includes dual electric motors producing 478kW of peak power and an impressive 770Nm of torque in Boost mode. This advanced setup allows for breathtaking acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, setting new benchmarks for performance EVs.
The GV60 Magma’s exterior design features aggressive styling cues, including a lowered stance by 15mm compared to the standard GV60 and larger 21-inch forged alloy wheels paired with wider Pirelli P Zero tires for superior grip. Underneath, advanced technologies like Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) simulate traditional gear changes through paddle shifters on the steering wheel, offering drivers an immersive driving experience.
For enhanced control during spirited driving, Genesis has equipped the Magma with High Performance Brake Control (HPBC), ensuring consistent brake pedal feel even after prolonged high-speed use. Three driving modes—Sprint, GT, and a customizable My mode—are available to fine-tune performance according to driver preferences or track conditions.
Inside, premium Nappa leather and suede bucket seats provide exceptional comfort and support for both front occupants, while advanced noise cancellation technology ensures a serene cabin environment despite the exterior’s aggressive demeanor. With its combination of blistering speed and luxurious appointments, the 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma is poised to redefine what drivers expect from high-performance electric vehicles.
